Every year my breath catches.
Every year their eyes glow.
Every year it gets carefully extracted from its box
and the figures get arranged just-so.
And oh the smiles!
I love that this is the same nativity set
that I would excitedly set up as a kid.
And I love that it’s a tradition
that continues for my own children.
It’s beautiful in its simplicity.
Remember that, friend, as you prepare for Christmas this year.
Cherish the little things.
Let them captivate you.
And I’ll be here doing the same.
Because simple is where it’s at for us this year.
