Making your home a haven for YOU

Do you have a spot in your house that you escape to every once in awhile?

We’ve all had times when that’s the bathroom, right?!

True story: for years, the toilet room in our house was the newest and freshest room in the house (a long story that involved the toilet cracking into pieces and needing replaced) so that was where I retreated to when I needed to be somewhere where I couldn’t see all the ‘mess’ !

Your home is YOUR haven.

Today, consider where in your home you feel most at rest. If you haven’t already, clear a spot to sit in. Then, take a moment to just “be.” Even if there are piles of laundry right beside you or a garden that needs attention. Even while there’s so much more to be done. Because those moments can help you to find the oomph to get going again.

This particular spot in my house has been through many morphs over time, and to be fair, this angle doesn’t quite show the reality of rest of the room. But even when it’s surrounded by piles of laundry, and set against unpainted windowsills and the odd piece of wall art, this space is a reminder to slow down and breathe when I need it to be.

This year, especially, there’s a weariness in the air that is palpable. May you find a way to breathe. A way to rest in the midst of it all. Because that matters, too!

I’d love to hear about a quirky spot that has been a retreat for you at some point!
