Hey there! I’m Kristy Cammell, the face behind all this.
You’ve probably got all sorts of questions about who I am, what my family is like, and what brings me here. So it’s time to top up that mug, pull up a chair and let’s get to know each other a little better. Here goes…
- Life without chocolate is not something I can imagine.
- I like pretty things that make me smile and remind me of what matters. It took me a long time to realise that bringing beauty into your home can be a balm for the soul. On a budget at least, since that’s how I roll!
- I can’t stand the sight or sound of a scrubbing brush, scrubbing. Super weird, I know – and it really doesn’t help me get certain housework done.
- I’m mama to three growing kids who never cease to amaze me.
- I’ve been married to the love of my life for long enough that we both have to double check the number on each anniversary.
- I’m not a camel, in case you were wondering. My surname (Cammell) is pronounced, “Cam-ELL.” Rhyme it with ‘jam’ followed by ‘belle,’ emphasis on the second syllable ; – )
- I love organising things. Honest truth? I’d rather that than cleaning, any day. Sorting stuff and finding fun, functional and aesthetically pleasing ways to make spaces work is one of my favourite things to do.
- Yup, I homeschool, and I love helping families get their heads around how to do life with a homeschool headspace. I’m also a big advocate for the fact that while I love it, and it’s what works for our family, it’s not all there is to life. (More about my homeschool background, here.)
- My home is my haven, and my family feels the same. It’s a beautiful thing!
- I suffered from debilitating chronic pain for three crucial years of my kids’ young lives. This, along with hubby’s ongoing chronic illness, has taught me a lot about slowing down, embracing the ordinary, and extending yourself grace for all the seasons of life.
- I dislike humour that pokes fun at husbands and children. I love finding and creating memes that make us all laugh together.
- All my life I’ve been fascinated by the concept of ‘boxes’ while simultaneously being adverse to staying in them. That said: I’m an eldest child, and I lean toward being an ambivert. It’s possible that could explain a fair bit ; – )
- I couldn’t have gotten through some of our toughest seasons without my faith in God. I’m so thankful that I don’t have to do life, alone. One small step at a time is where it’s at for me.
- Writing is my outlet. You’ll find authenticity through my musings and meanderings here as a mama and fellow traveller through life. For more on embracing life’s ups and downs, find me at Choosing Thankfulness, too.
- Add coffee to that very first bullet point.
Phew, time for another sip, I think!
Now, your turn. I’d love to hear a little about you. Pop a note through my Contact page to say hi, or drop a comment when you read something that catches your eye on the Blog, and I’ll respond.
See you around!
