Feeling disillusioned by mess?

As a mama, it can be so easy to be disillusioned by mess. And there’s a reality in that, because we’re always in it! But what if I told you that there really is another way of looking at it?

Before you can ‘solve’ your storage problems, you first need to look at your home differently.

When did you last stop to truly look at your mess and see what it represents? Yes, I’m serious – find a spot to sit down right in the middle of it, and cast your eyes across it. Bit by bit. What does it tell you?

Those shoes strewn haphazardly all over the floor? They represent adventures, outings, trips and time together. Where they landed in that muddled heap represents the rush to head back inside, to the haven that your children call home.

Those stray pencils and markers scattered beside the torn up strips of paper & the trail of half-read books spread along the floor? They represent the opportunity to imagine, to create, to be inventive with whatever happens to be at hand. Which means that your home is a haven that invites that kind of creativity.

This is YOUR haven.

You really do live here.

And you want your haven to allow for – to invite! – the endless creative potential (ok yes: sometimes known as creative chaos) that a houseful of curious children bring.

Today: be encouraged. Yes there is a balance to be found (& I have so many ideas I’m looking forward to sharing with you), but you don’t need to find it all right now. Enjoy noticing what your home represents for your family. It’s unique to you, and that’s saying something!

You’re doing a fabulous job. Stay awesome!
